If you are interested in Zoology you will have completed a degree in Zoology and be very interested in working with all Zoo animals. You could be looking for work as a park keeper and specialising in one of the many zoo animals or working with a few zoo animals.

You will need to be confident working with animals and have a keen interest in zoo and exotic animals. It would be advantageous to be physically fit to deal with large animals and for clearing out the homes of elephants, gorillas etc.

Your employer will be looking to see how active you are, how keen to learn about zoo life and how hard working you are to work in a team environment where the hours are unpredictable and you may be required to work at short notice in any emergencies or busy periods. You will need to be able to provide excellent care to animals and be very interested in animal welfare.

If you have found a role at a Zoo or park that you are interested in applying for, please see the below personal statement which you can use in your application and CV.

Zoology personal statement example

A passionate individual for working with zoo animals has recently graduated from (what university, when and what grade). I am now keen to continue with my learning and enjoy working with elephants and giraffes especially.

I am very hard working,  enjoy putting extra effort into my work to ensure that I learn as much as I can and do the best I can to be successful for myself and the animals in the zoo. I like to work in a variety of roles and I am happy to get involved in anything new.

I am an excellent communicator, very patient and like to ensure I do my work following rules and procedures applicable to the zoo and to ensure that the welfare of the animals is always the number one priority.

Good luck.
