Care Assistant Cover Letter Example

A care assistant is dealing with people all of the time. This means that it is very important to make sure that you highlight all of your experience in working with people even with small examples of your caring personality, in the letter. Obviously if you have worked as a care assistant before, then you need to mention that but also highlight any skills you have that would fit in this job. Working with people, especially vulnerable ones even if in a volunteer capacity can be useful. Patience, listening skills, communication skills and flexibility are all important. Highlight these if you have not got any relevant work experience in the field and even if you have. Keep the job description in mind as well and make sure that you take the key requirements and explain how you can do them.

Although a care assistant is not an office based job, it is still important to keep your cover letter professional. This could make it stand out over ones that are not and show your written skills. There will be some paperwork as part of the role of care assistant and a good cover letter will show that you can do this.

As you will see from my CV I have previously worked at a care assistant at the xxxx home. I was in this role for two years before taking some time off work to look after my children. I am now looking for work again and feel that I would like to go back in to this area of work. I feel that looking after children has helped me to improve my caring skills.

I have my NVQ level 2 in health and social care, which fits with your requirements, but would like to study for level 3 or other relevant qualifications, should the opportunity arise. I feel that moving from working with the elderly in my past job, to working with children seems like a natural progression now that I have children myself. I have been volunteering at the nursery that my children go to in order to pick up some skills in that area as well. I understand that the role may require some shift work, which I am fully prepared to do.

Please take a look at my enclosed CV for more details and I look forward to hearing from you.

Your Sincerely
