Picker Packer Job Application Cover Letter Example

By Guest Author

picker packer covering letter

Writing a cover letter for the job role of a……

Picker Packer

The role of a picker Packer is primarily based within warehouse environments or on production lines. This role involves ‘Picking’ the goods, and ‘Packing’ them into containers such as boxes, crates or trays.

As a Picker Packer, you will be required to have a good level of physical fitness, an eye for detail, ability to use own initiative and be quick with your hands.

Although there are no particular qualifications, possessing a fork lift licence may be required, and a manual handling certification could be of use to get you ahead of the competition. As well as this, a basic level of reading, writing and maths would be required.

Many of these vacancies will be advertised on jobcentre websites and boards, in local newspapers and the websites of private warehouse and distribution companies. Agencies also source a majority of these types of vacancies, so registering with as many industrial recruitment agencies as possible would be a good place to start. You may also find some vacancies advertised on national job websites occasionally.
The application process is usually the submission of your CV and cover letter to either the recruitment department or the agency account manager. This will then be followed by an interview, and possibly a registration process if this is an agency vacancy. Some warehouse and distribution companies also request that applicants take part in a test to show their level of capability.

Main requirements for the role to remember when writing your cover letter:

Reading, numeracy and literacy skills – preferably at least level 2
Effective verbal and written communication
Good communication skills
Able to work both in a team and as an individual
Show attention to detail

Dear Sirs

Further to your advertisement in the Learnist Courier for a delivery driver I would like you to consider my application.

Although I don’t have any experience the advertisement does state that it isn’t essential. I do have a clean driving licence, and passed my test more than five years ago. I understand that the work will involve driving a van with parcels from a local catalogue clothes company to their customers.

I do know the area reasonably well as I have lived in Colwyn Bay for the last ten years and prior to that I lived in Bangor.

I understand that the vehicle will be loaded ready for the driver in the mornings and the van is returned to the depot. It is really helpful that the route is planned in advance and that the van is loaded so that items for the last drop are the furthest from the door.

I have enclosed my CV which shows my work history, although I haven’t worked for the past few years as I wanted to stay at home with the children. They are now of an age where I am able to make arrangements for them after school and in the holidays.

I am available to attend an interview at any time convenient for you and I hope to hear from you soon.

Yours faithfully
