Dear Sirs

I would like to apply for the position of Engineering Manager as advertised recently.

In my current role, I report to the Chief Engineer, and am responsible for the day to day management of internal and external engineering resources to ensure deliverables are completed on time, to budget and in agreement with the project requirements. This includes direct control of a core internal team of Naval Architects, Mechanical Engineers and research interns.

I input to the pre-project, project definition and project executions phases, including generation and maintenance of detailed project plans; forecasting resource requirements to deliver projects to plan; recruitment to support the plans and managing all resource for the engineering aspects of projects to ensure that budgets and targets are met and that output meets quality and safety criteria.

I have a degree in engineering, and a qualification in electrical infrastructure gained during my time at my present company where I have been working in my current position for 5 years. During this time the business has doubled in size and I have enjoyed a close working relationship with senior managers to assist in and aid this growth.

The job requires a high level of expertise with Microsoft project which is the primary tool we use for planning and reporting.

I am now seeking a position which will enable me to build upon my experience and believe this opportunity would be ideal for me as it is based in London where I am currently located and offers the opportunity to travel to and input to a wider range of projects at other locations in the UK and globally.

I enclose my CV and am available for interview at your convenience. References are available on request and I very much look forward to hearing from you as appropriate.

Yours faithfully
