Sainsburys have put in an application to turn an old pub and Thai restaurant into a convenience supermarket store. The new store will be on the premises of the old Lime Bar and Thai Brasserie which is on the corner of Stourbridge and Broad Street.

The plans were submitted to Bromsgrove District Council and is expected to put in an application for an alcohol licence to be in the Sainsburys Local store.  The new store would only be open from 7am to 11pm and the new store would create 20-25 full and part time jobs which will go to local people of Bromsgrove and boost the employment opportunities for the town.

The site where Sainsburys want to be based is leased from Punch Taverns and they would continue to be responsible for the first floor of the building which is off Broad Street.  The application has also included work to update the outside of the building and to the car park.
Many locals of Bromsgrove have received letters from Sainsburys stressing that they will be a good neighbour and keep noise and disruption to a minimum whilst providing their customers with good quality convenience items.  Sainsburys are hoping to make a positive difference to the local community of Bromsgrove and the will be selecting a local charity which they will them support and do fundraising and volunteering through.

The decision for these plans will be made over the summer once the local council have had chance to consider all aspects of the application and what it means to everyone concerned and to make sure that the residents are happy with a sainsburys local on their doorstep and what exactly it means to them.

The new sainsburys local will provide a range of products for their customers and want to play an active part in the community, raising monies for the local charities and the local schools.
