How to Apply

Applying at Emirates is all done online via their website, you will be able to search for all their current vacancies which all provide information about the role and the requirements needed before you can apply. Cabin crew requirements; must be age 21 or above, minimum arm reach of 212cms, no tattoos to be visable through uniform, at least education to high school level, fitness levels to meet requirements, English speaker and writer, previous experience in hospitality industry is a bonus.

Interview

The assessment centre will involve a group presentation, you will be split into a small group for yours and be given a few small group activities to show how well you work as a team. You will also be asked to take part in a few written tests. At the final stage of your interview, you may be asked to sit a short exam, where they can test your English and grammar skills, as well as your Maths skills and general knowledge questions. You will then have a 1:1 interview where you will be asked in depth about your experience, how you would handle certain work situations, and then finally asked if you have any questions you would like to ask.

Architect

Electrician

It’s a difficult decision to make as to what the best career choice is and where your skills will take you but below is some examples of good jobs and careers for women.

#1 Doctor or Physician

If you have a strong medical background and have had an ambition to be a doctor or a physician then with some hard work and dedication you could have a career for life. You may be a doctor in a hospital or working from a GP surgery or health centre.  It is a very demanding career path to take and one that could take you away from any outside life for a long time but in the end it will be worth it to have a great career.

#2 Teacher

As a Teacher you will be qualified and have a PGCE to teach in whatever subject you are specialised in depending on what school setting and experience you have had through your training.  Teaching can be very rewarding to see children go through the years of schooling and see what they choose to do at the end of their education.

#3 Nurse

As a Nurse you will have to train for many years and do a great deal of work experience before being qualified but you could then be a nurse in a hospital, school or private establishment.  As a nurse you will work random shift patterns so will need to be flexible in your working times and you may have to work some overtime when departments are short staffed.  You will have a very caring nature and enjoy looking after patients when they are sometimes at their worst.

Nursing salaries start from £22,000 per annum depending on hospital setting and experience.

#4 Medical Scientist

As a medical scientist you will be involved in researching and studying products, medicines etc to find new ways of treating diseases etc. You will need to be educated to degree level to be in medical science and be good at researching and investigating.

Salaries start at 30,000 depending on experience.

#5 Psychologist

As a psychologist you will be good at listening and providing ways of helping patients/clients deal with their issues and problems through talking and cognitive and behavioural therapies. You will need to have a patient nature and be interested in helping people through difficult periods in their lives by delving into problems that they have maybe not talked about before.

Starting salaries for a psychologist is approx £35,000 per annum.

#6 Lawyer

As a Lawyer you will be representing clients in cases related to your area of specialism and researching and going over the facts necessary to represent clients in a court of law. You will need to be a confident communicator to work well as a lawyer and be able to research and keep up to date with the changes in law and how you can best win your cases.

Salaries start at £45,000 per annum.

#7 Pharmacist

As a Pharmacist you are responsible for the accuracy of giving out and dispensing medicines to patients with prescriptions. It is a very responsible position and where you need to pay attention to detail at all times. You will weigh different forms of medicine out in liquid or tablet format and dispense accordingly. You will also be responsible for the smooth running of the pharmacy and dealing with any new products and ways of working coming into the pharmacy.

Typically salaries for this role is between £30-40,000 per annum depending on
experience and setting of work.

If you work in an Insurance and or investment setting then you will be selling different policies to customers and trying to ensure that they keep their business with you. You will have a lot of experience in financial products and be a confident communicator who is able to sell to customers as well as provide help and advice through a potential claim or claim situation.

#9 Office Manager

The role of an Office Manager is one that requires great multi tasking skills and one that women mainly do rather than men. An Office Manager is usually the eyes and ears of an office dealing with most departments of the company and reporting into the Managing Director or Director of the business. You will need to be good at general administration and organising people and running the heart of any business. If an office behind the scenes does not run properly then the rest of the business areas suffer.

As a Human Resources Manager you will need to have exceptional listening and communicating skills. HR Managers act as a go between Directors and staff and try to keep the work force happy by introducing new initiatives and programmes to maintain and retain a happy work force.

A lot of Students still need to work whilst studying these days, as gaining an education is costly and students need to be able to live whilst gaining an education. With fewer inexperienced jobs for people it is important to gain a good standard of education so it allows you to be able to open more doors to your potential career.

Finding a job can prove somewhat difficult at times as you have to find a job around your college course, the timetable that you are given by your college plus allowing extra time for studying and also not forgetting the life of a college student so that you maintain your friendships which is important at this time in your life.

Mainly employers have gaps in their establishment that need filling and especially in some of the below positions they can be high absenteeism making the hours ad hoc and you are sometimes not always able to plan around your college timetable.

There are various jobs out there for College Students and mostly they involve some kind of Customer Service either on a face to face basis or on the telephone. Some of the roles that students end up doing are as listed below.

#1 A Barista in a coffee shop

The role of a Barista is one of the first rungs on the ladder working in a coffee shop and an ideal position for a student as it doesn’t require specific skills and you will be trained as you go along.

#2 Bar Work

Another obvious role to do part time as a student and bar work will mainly be in the evenings and weekends so not interfering with your timetable.

#3 Call centre work

You could get a few part time shifts working in a Call Centre maybe working for one of the banks or utility companies making outbound calls or taking inbound calls from customers.

#4 Take away

Working in a Takeaway again can be done in the evenings so will not interfere with any lectures or work that needs to be done. You will need to be organised and be able to deal with the crowds at the end of the night.

Working for a supermarket or shop as a cashier can be done as a part time role covering various shifts, operating a till and even stacking shelves in a smaller store.

Working part time doing Telesales calls is a part time role whereby you will have a list of people to call and offer them a product or service depending on the company that you work for. As long as you can deal with people saying no this is a relatively straight forward role.

#11 Cleaner

Working as a cleaner for a company means that this role can be done in the evenings or at set periods if cleaning a person’s house.  Office cleaning is generally done out of office hours which is ideal for most students.

Working in a cinema dealing with customers buying tickets and showing them to the screen that they are going to or serving refreshments, this can be done on a part time basis, day or night to suit.

You could work part time doing deliveries for a parcel company or a private company if you have your own transport or can get about easily.
