If you have been invited to an interview as a Banking Assistant then you may already have some prior banking knowledge but if not then you will probably come from a customer services background. The role of a banking assistant will have a great deal of contact with customers and need to have a very confident approach to customers and colleagues.

Before attending your interview, make sure that you have researched thoroughly the bank that you are hoping to be employed by. Do you have any prior knowledge of banking and if so with who? Draw comparisons that maybe you could bring into your interview?

You will need to dress very smartly for your interview as it is business dress or maybe a uniform when working in a bank and you need to come across as ready for business.

Your interviewer will be looking at your customer service skills and how you communicate with others. It is essential to have a calm and patient manner towards your customers but also you will be required to learn new products and services very quickly to be able to explain this to customers coming into the branch.

If you are looking for a position as an Accounting Clerk then you will have had previous experience in working in an accounts department. You will usually do a variety of tasks in this role such as balancing accounts, dealing with invoices, petty cash etc and you may wish to do some accounting qualifications and progress your career from this role.

You will need to be very organised and efficient to do this role well and have a good head for figures. If you have got an interview for a Boiler Technician role then you will be qualified in this role and have had to pass rigorous tests and exams to be qualified. If you have been successful in getting an interview for a Buyer position then you will already have plenty of experience as a Buyer or Assistant Buyer and have worked in a retail position previously doing this role. If you have got an interview as a Call Centre Operator then you will be dealing with high volume inbound and outbound calls maybe working for one of the utility companies, finance companies etc. You will need to have excellent customer service skills and be able to spend the majority of your day talking to customers on the telephone and keeping accurate logs on who you have contacted and note any follow ups.

If you are looking to get a job as a Bar Person and have got an interview then you need to assess whether you have done this kind of work before and research the role and the bar carefully.

Tips

Go through your CV in detail and assess whether you have the skills that they require for the bar person job. Have you just served drinks or have you done a mixture of food and drinks and is this something they would like, do they serve food etc?
A bar person interview will usually be a lot less formal than an office worker interview for example but nevertheless your interviewer will still be looking to see if you have the right skills and personality for the job.

You will need to have an outgoing personality who likes to talk to people and make them feel welcome. In this role you could be working some unsociable hours and dealing with some difficult people and circumstances at times so you need to be strong and able to deal with this.

If you have secured an interview for a Car Rental Agent then you may some prior knowledge of the Car rental market and understand the rule of hiring and terms etc. As an agent you will be responsible for talking to customers and for taking their bookings, providing advice, ensuring that you have the correct payment or method of payment that the right insurances have been taken out etc.

A big part of the role is customer services so this will need to be outstanding to do this role well. Your interviewer will looking for you to be organised and thorough as you will also be working out prices and insurances, things that require great attention to detail so once you have been through your own CV it would be nice to highlight these areas that you know you are good at and that you do these areas well. If you can think of specific examples from a previous work place this would be a good discussion topic when answering questions at an interview.
