#1 Finance Director

As a Finance Director you will be degree educated with at least 5 years experience in a senior level finance role. You will be responsible for making all the financial decisions for a company, allocating and controlling budgets, ensuring that money comes in on time and goes out accordingly. You will be responsible for all aspects of finance and need to be a methodical worker who can deal with such a responsibility and be able to hold meetings with Directors and explain where monies have gone, what has been done with them and the decisions that have been made.

Typically salaries for this role depending on the size and location or company as well as previous experience usually begins at £50,000 per annum.

#2 Finance Department Manager

To be a Finance Department Manager you will have experience of many years of working within a busy finance department and probably started at the bottom as an Accounts Assistant and working your way up.  You will have in depth knowledge of how a department works, the different sections within that department and how it all comes together. You will need to be able to manage staff and their workload and ensure that deadlines in the department are made and that great attention to detail is paid by everyone.

Depending on the size of the department you are responsible for, salaries could start at £30,000 per annum.

#3 Account Manager

As an Account manager you will be responsible for ensuring the accounts in a company and controlled and run efficiently. You will be the main point of contact for the accounts you are managing and you will need to develop these accounts at the same time as managing them.

You will usually come from a strong customer service background combined with an element of finance and financial understanding.

Typically salaries for this role start at £25,000 per annum and depending on the structure your role could have a bonus/commission element to it depending on how the accounts are run and developed.

#4 Payroll Manager

As a Payroll Manager you control when employees get paid in a company and are responsible for ensuring this is calculated correctly including dealing with Tax deductions, National Insurance payments, any deductions eg: student loans or staff deductions. Also holiday and sickness pay etc.  You will need to be able to oversee your team to ensure that timesheets and hours are calculated properly and that accurate records are kept at all times.

Salaries for this role start at £30,000 per annum.

#5 Accountant

If you are an accountant then you will be responsible for advising companies on their accounts and ensuring that their accounts are completed and filed accordingly each year. This is usually a client facing role where you will spend most of your time at client sites going through their books.

#6 Business Analyst

As a Business analyst it will be your role to examine a business’s finances and assess the need for improvements or changes. Usually at the stage a Business analyst is brought into a company, the company requires help, advice and change to get back on track.

#7 Auditor

As an Auditor it will under your remit to look at a company’s files and accounts and work in conjunction with an accountant assessing that they are operating in a good and stable way. An Auditor works at client sites and spends time with clients looking at their paperwork and accounts and making a judgment on the ways of working.

Salaries start at £25-35,000 per annum.

#8 Account Executive

As an Account Executive you will be looking after many accounts and have the remit to develop these. This will require some management and developing skills maybe from a customer service background. You will have been looking after and running accounts for a few years when you are at exec level.

#9 Credit Controller

As a Credit Controller you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the invoices in a busy accounts department. You will ensure that invoices are sent out and received and logged, you will deal with any invoice related queries, process invoices for payment runs each month etc.

Usually salary levels for this role start at £18,000 depending on experience.

#10 Accounts Assistant

As an Accounts Assistant you will have a general role in an accounts department, dealing with queries internally and externally, sending out invoices, completing paperwork, filing, giving out pay slips etc.

Depending on experience and the size of the company your starting salary could be £15,000 per annum.
