Dear Sirs
Please will you consider my application for the position of apprentice chef which was advertised in the Swansea Gazette last week. I understand that it isn’t necessary to have any experience.
I have worked in the kitchens of my local pub during school holidays but I really just did the duties of kitchen porter. I filled the dishwasher and washed larger pieces of equipment by hand, dried items when necessary and ensured that there was always clean crockery and cutlery available.
I believe that you have a small, but highly recommended hotel on the outskirts of Swansea. Although you say that you don’t have living accommodation, this won’t be a problem as I have a close relative who lives a few minutes’ walk away from your hotel and will be happy for me to stay there.
I really would appreciate the opportunity to start my career as a chef with you. I enclose copies of my GCSEs for your information, together with a reference from the pub where I did some holiday work.
