So you’ve spent hours on your CV and covering letter, and submitted it to lots of agencies and direct to companies. After much effort you’ve finally got yourself a job interview (HOORAH!)

Now you need to get yourself prepared for your job interview so that you can do your very best to get the job offer. This infographic from Karl Hunt (a writer at CouponAudit) can help you to understand how to go about your interview preparation.

In summary:

– Get online and start searching! Start with the basics with the company website. Look at the About Us pages and identify what sort of attitude the company has towards various subjects and what they would expect from a potential candidate.

– Employees can research too. Use LinkedIn and Twitter to find out about the interviewer. If you are armed with information about the interviewer’s interests you may have some in common you can throw into the conversation (although don’t freak them out and let on you’ve Facebook stalked them!).

– Make sure you know where you’re going. If you don’t get a chance to actually visit the interview location in person prior to the interview day then use Google Street View to familiarise yourself with the area.

– Rehearse answers to common interview questions so that you know what to say on the big day.

– Before you leave the office take some time to thank the interviewer, person on front desk, anyone you have met.

– Follow up the interview with a prompt Thank You email to the interviewer.

– If you’re really keen, write a handwritten note to thank the interviewer for their time.

Good luck and try to relax and enjoy yourself.
