There are also small businesses who are using Twitter to advertise their vacancies for free which you should keep on eye on.

You can contact employers to ask if they have any suitable positions which you can apply for.

Facebook

These days many employers have Facebook pages which you can join with a click on the like button. It is possible to follow their news updates and apply for their vacancies from Facebook. You can also use this opportunity to ask questions about the company and their careers.

  1. Thanks to the social networking sites, it is now much easier to find a job online.

    Pretty much every small and large business in the UK uses Facebook or Twitter to promote themselves, so it’s very easy to find businesses and get in touch with them.

    It’s also worth mentioning that if you’re going to be contacting employers via Facebook, make sure your Facebook page doesn’t make you look like a not-so-great person to employ!

  2. Yes Social media is a great way to look for a job. However, be careful, because if you are looking to change employment I wouldn’t advise posting this fact on facebook or twitter, as it is very likely to get back to your current employer.  Following the right people or companies on twitter can certainly help.  Either way, do make sure all your profiles on Social Media do not make it look like you would be a bad person to employ (this includes photos of you looking drunk or in other compromising poses, and moaning about your current job)
