A civil servant is a person whom works for the Home Civil Service which is a politically neutral organisation that advises and supports the government in delivering policies and public services.

There are many departments within the civil service including the Treasury, Ministry of Justice and Department for Work and Pensions, which also means there are plenty of jobs to choose from, from administrative support to departmental managers to senior civil servants.

Duties to expect will be dependent on the level of job being applied for.

As you’d expect, administrative staff will update records, answer phones and take minutes.

Middle management jobs include policy advisors, project leaders, researchers, and applicants will need to have an in depth knowledge of their respective department as they’ll be expected to advise ministers, research and write reports and help formulate policy.

Senior management jobs such as policy managers, director or deputy directors work very closely with government ministers helping them formulate and implement policy.

20 May 2020

Dear Sirs

Further to your advertisement in the Learnist Courier for a delivery driver I would like you to consider my application.

Although I don’t have any experience the advertisement does state that it isn’t essential. I do have a clean driving licence, and passed my test more than five years ago. I understand that the work will involve driving a van with parcels from a local catalogue clothes company to their customers.

I do know the area reasonably well as I have lived in Colwyn Bay for the last ten years and prior to that I lived in Bangor.

I understand that the vehicle will be loaded ready for the driver in the mornings and the van is returned to the depot. It is really helpful that the route is planned in advance and that the van is loaded so that items for the last drop are the furthest from the door.

I have enclosed my CV which shows my work history, although I haven’t worked for the past few years as I wanted to stay at home with the children. They are now of an age where I am able to make arrangements for them after school and in the holidays.

I am available to attend an interview at any time convenient for you and I hope to hear from you soon.

Yours faithfully

I am a very self motivated person, I like to work hard and like to be kept busy so as well as being efficient in my skills, and I also do these accurately.

I am a confident person by nature and I enjoy working outside in a practical role. I have good customer service skills and always aim to provide the best service I can to my clients.

Cover Letter for a Internal Job Relocation

internal job relocation cover letter

How to write an internal job relocation covering letter

If you are applying for a role internally, it is important to approach it with the same professionalism that you would if you were applying externally. You will still need to demonstrate that you have the required qualifications, experience and skills for the job. However, you can use your previous experience at the company as a positive point in your application. You may need to explain why you are moving from your current position.

It is best to explain that you enjoy for the company and wish to stay but want an opportunity to move upwards in the company. Some people make the mistake of assuming that the recruiting manager knows about them. It is best to assume that they know nothing and include all of the detail relevant. Make sure that you therefore explain how your current role has been good preparation for the one that you are applying for.

Include details of any relevant training courses you have completed internally as well. Never assume that they will look these them up themselves, you want to make it as easy for them as possible to get to know all about you. Even if they do know you, they may not remember what you have done with regards to training etc so treat it exactly like they do not know you and this should give the best possible chance of securing an interview.

Teacher Job Application Cover Letter Examples

By Guest Author

teacher cover letter example

A teacher will not be taken on unless they have a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, School Direct training, Teach First qualification BA/BSc with Qualified Teacher Status or a Bachelor of Education so these relevant qualifications need to be put in the cover letter. If you have work experience as a teacher and have completed other relevant courses, these may be worth a mention too. Any work experience, paid or unpaid that involves teaching should also be mentioned. This could include any training done as part of the teaching qualification gained.

There are a number of skills that a good teacher should have and it is good if you can show that you have these from the cover letter. These include communication, organisation, creative, imaginative, analytical, time management and interpersonal skills. Energy and enthusiasm is also necessary and a good sense of humour helps. It is possible that skills in IT, drama, sport, modern languages, community or art could be favourable and so these are worth a mention as well. Teaching has long hours and needs a lot of commitment, so if you have not worked as a teacher before, you will need to ensure it is clear that you are able to happily cope with this.

Dear Mrs Smith

I am writing to apply for the teacher position advertised in the xxx. I feel that I would be the perfect candidate for the job.

I was particularly interested in this job because of the reputation for the school being particularly focussed on drama. I have a background in drama, having attended a stage school each Saturday morning for four years, while at school. As your school has a drama emphasis, I feel that this would link in with that very well.

Since graduating from xxx after getting my PGCE, I have been working at xxx school on a part-time basis. This has given me valuable practical experience of being responsible for a class. However, I am now looking for a full-time opportunity. I feel that I have great teaching skills, with lots of patience as well as creative skills.

I am hoping that this job will help me step in to a fill time job as a teacher. I hope that it will accommodate me for many years as I plan to stay in the area and really relish the idea of working at the school, one that I have admired ever since I heard about it.

I have enclosed my CV for your perusal and am available for interview Wednesday – Friday each week. I hope to hear from you soon.

Teaching Job Application Letter

Dear Mrs Johnson,

I wish to apply for the Year 3 teaching position at your school as advertised in the Times Educational Supplement.

I have an Education degree (Primary) from Bath University and have been teaching for the past two years at St David’s Primary School in Wells.

As a teacher, my main goal is to motivate students to do their best and expand their own personal limits. I devise programs, according to syllabus requirements, that develop previous knowledge and encourage students to explore new and interesting possibilities. I encourage students to construct their own learning in an environment that stimulates and helps students to realise their full potential. I have had some excellent results with students who have a history of poor performance. I strive to instil a love of learning and to make learning exciting and interesting.

I am confident that my experience and skills will be an asset to your students’ learning and development and would love the opportunity to work at your school.

Thank you for taking the time to consider my application. I look forward to the opportunity of meeting with you and discussing how I can contribute to your school community and objectives.

account executive cover letter

An account executive will need to have at least a BTEC HND or preferably a degree in the subject of marketing, advertising, statistics, media studies, business, management or psychology and so will need to make sure this is mentioned in their cover letter.

The job also requires work experience so mention any relevant work in advertising or marketing, communications, sales or the media, even if it was voluntary work. You will also need good communication skills, confidence, professionalism, people skills, time management skills and organisational skills.

You will need to show evidence that you have these skills either from previous work experience, qualifications or just personality traits. You may also need to work long hours and so it could be worth mentioning that you are prepared to do this. You may be required to study for professional qualifications, so if you do not have them already then make sure that you mention that you are willing to study. Team leadership is also essential and so whether you have leadership qualifications or experience, you need to mention this in the letter.

If you do not have leadership experience or qualifications, demonstrate that you have the skills by describing relevant personality traits.
