Sales Ledger Cover Letter Example

Writing a cover letter for the job role of a Sales Ledger.

If you are looking to get into a Sales Ledger role then you will typically have some experience of administration and accounts and combine the two roles to work in a sales ledger role. You will be expected to deal with all the invoices coming in and out of the business and ensure that these invoices are paid on time. You will need to be very organised and thorough in your work and communicate well on a regular basis and build good working relationships.

There are some Accounting qualifications but mainly this role is from experience and learning on the job and through your colleagues than through specific qualifications.
Typically a salary for a sales ledger clerk starts at around £16,000 per annum depending on the size of company and team. This will of course depend on your experience and could be less for more of an entry position.

To get into the role initially will be down to your previous experience and your methods of working such as having a financial/mathematical mind and being able to concentrate for long periods of time accurately.

In the role of Sales Ledger you will be required to:
Chase outstanding invoices and accounts
Make a concise log of accounts and invoices coming in and out of the business
Update accounts packages – SAGE or any in house packages they may have
Pay invoices coming into the business on time and within the terms of the invoice
Devise new processes and procedures in conjunction with the department to ensure that the sale ledger is running as effectively as it can for the business
Update the sales ledger daily
General accounts queries

You may be able to further your career and learn other aspects of an accounts department but it is not necessary for beginning with.

I have a good administration background also and I am a very organised person. I like to create new systems and ledgers to record and document important accounting work.

I have had experience of dealing with customers and clients, and looking into their queries, keeping customer records up to date, resolving invoicing problems and re issuing invoices or credit notes as necessary. I work well in a team environment and am also able to manage my own workload and time.

If you are looking for a career as a Finance a Manager you will have over 5 years experience of working in a Finance environment. Usually you will be educated to degree level and will have worked in an Accounts department and have a generalist background.

As a finance manager you will be responsible for company budgets and implementing them to each department and controlling the expenditure of the company. This is a senior role within a business and one with a great level of responsibility.

The salary level you can expect as a Finance Manager starts from £35,000 + per annul. This is of course dependent on the size of company and location of the business as this is the low end salary level for this role.

You can expect to be responsible for duties such as:

Deciding company budgets for each department and ensuring that you give the department managers training on how to control their budgets and what they should be spending etc as guidelines
Managing company expenditure and asking questions on over expenditure before any issues arise
Raising purchase order numbers and ensuring that all departments agreeing amounts get a valid purchase order Overseeing payroll for the business Agreeing new salary levels for employees Overseeing and controlling the accounts department and understanding everything within the department.A finance manager is a very senior role and one with huge responsibility. You will report to the Directors of the business and need to be able to report to them on company expenditure, profits and loss.

You will be an exceptional mathematical person to do this role well as you will be required to analyse and interpret financial information and be able to discuss this with other parties with not as much financial knowledge as yourself.
