Work Placement

Assisted in the local supermarket stocking shelves and gained knowledge in stock control, stocking shelves and going through the stock accurately to ensure the out of date products came off the shelf.Helped with customer enquiries, not only telling them where to find items, but taking them to where they need to be which proved my willingness to help and provide excellent customer service. As well as stock control, I was given the opportunity to work on the checkout area which involved speed, concentration and politeness. Multi-tasking and listening to senior staff in order to learn was not a problem and look forward to enhancing these skills in the future.

Work Experience

During school, I was given the opportunity to work in a local primary school, helping the teacher in class, taking part in group activities and supervising the children which I really enjoyed.  I was involved in organising lesson plans for art, music and sporting activities.  It gave me an insight into the amount of planning and organisation involved in teaching.  I got on well with other teachers and the children.  The placement was for a week but I learned a lot of skills in that week which I still make use of now.

  1. At the risk of sounding incredibly out of date, why does someone need to submit a CV to be a student?  I know that some universities would expect a "personal statement" but a CV??
